Alternative Home Energy – How to make a wind power generator at home?

Wind Blades

I want to make a wind power generator to power things in my house. I want it to be able to power a small tv and DVD player.
To make this you will need a few things. the generator, blades battery and inverter. I have made three of them and I use them to power various things outside like lighting, pool pump and tv. The best source of info for this is http://www.earth4energy.com. Thats where I got my blade designs from and learnt how to wire it up.. Its saving me some good money :)

What do you think is more efficient in harnessing wind power, a conventional wind turbine or a windbelt?

Whats more efficient in terms of power generation and maintenance, a wind turbine or a windbelt?

How to build a mini wind turbine?

is there any websites that tell you how to build a mini windturbine that can generate energy? Like it has to have blades and it has to generate electricity. I have copper wires and magnets, but how do you actually build a wind turbine powered by [obviously] wind to actually MAKE the energy? o_O please help! x.x

Since you're dealing with a variable energy source (wind), you're best bet is to build a DC generator…

Is this a science progect?

A DC Generator is the same machine as a DC motor… So if you're building something for your home, then just use a DC motor and a simple belt an pulley to reduce the rotational resistance (or load) on the blades, so a slower wind can be used…

For a Science project…
Buid three loops of wire and seperate them 60° on the rotor of the wind mill. Place a magnet on either side. north to south
Set up "brushes" (chunks of graphite like pencil lead) on either side so that as the rotor spins with the wind, the same side is going to the same terminal + or – no matter which side of the coil it is.

Have fun with it…
